Why Locals Love Big mount ครัวภาคกลาง เขาใหญ่ (ต้องจอง)

Big mount ครัวภาคกลาง เขาใหญ่ offers an authentic and memorable dining experience for lovers of Thai and Southern Thai cuisine nestled in the serene Phaya Yen area of Pak Chong District. Known for its commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients and generous portions, this restaurant beckons both locals and travelers seeking an immersive taste of Thailand’s rich culinary heritage.

The menu showcases a delightful array of traditional dishes, carefully prepared to balance bold flavors and textures. Highlights include the Stirfried BaiLieng leaves (ใบเหลียงผัดไข่), which boasts a subtle natural sweetness enhanced by crispy dried shrimp that adds an irresistible crunch without any overpowering fishiness. Another standout is the Fried Sea Bass with Mango Salad (ปลากะพงทอดน้ำปลา ยำมะม่วง), where the crispy, golden exterior of the sea bass perfectly complements the tangy, refreshing mango salad—each bite a celebration of textures and layers of flavor.

Guests consistently praise the freshness and quality of the raw materials. Kevalin, a satisfied visitor, describes the dishes as “splendidly done with fresh, rich, high-quality raw materials,” emphasizing the care put into every meal. Guillaume Martin’s enthusiasm for the food is palpable, noting “5 different dishes and all of them were absolutely fabulous,” and highlighting the warm, helpful nature of the staff, which elevates the dining experience beyond just the food.

The atmosphere at Big mount ครัวภาคกลาง is cozy and peaceful, ideal for relaxed lunches or intimate group gatherings. Elaine Chia notes the welcoming space is “a cozy place for lunch,” perfect for big groups who appreciate both value and hearty portions. She observes a predominantly Thai clientele during weekday visits, adding to the authentic local vibe. Chainarong’s visit on a quiet Wednesday afternoon confirms the tranquil environment, where guests can savor their meal in comfort and calm.

One point to note is the onsite café adjacent to the restaurant, which offers delicious cakes and beverages such as ice coffee and hot cappuccinos. However, one reviewer experienced longer wait times here, suggesting that while the food delights the palate, the service may occasionally require patience.

An awesome place for Thai/Southern-Thai cuisine. All the menus were splendidly done with fresh, rich, high-quality raw materials, tasted amazing each and every one of them.

I stopped by for lunch on a quiet Wednesday afternoon. The atmosphere was peaceful, making it a lovely spot to relax. I tried two dishes: the Stir-fried Bai-Lieng leaves (ใบเหลียงผัดไข่), which had a lovely hint of sweetness and were topped with crispy dried shrimp that added a great crunch without any fishy aftertaste. I also ordered the Fried Sea Bass with Mango Salad (ปลากะพงทอดน้ำปลา ยำมะม่วง). The ingredients were very fresh. The fish was fried until very well-done; while it was a bit too hard crunchy for my personal liking, the overall flavors were good. A nice spot for a casual meal

This is the cafe next to their main restaurant. Maybe it was because it was a Sunday, but it just too much too long to get our order of 1 ice coffee and 2 hot cappuccinos. I think we waited over 15mins. And from the photos I upload they weren’t that busy… One the plus side the cakes were yummy.

A cosy place for lunch. The pricing is on the higher side but as the portion is quite huge, so ended up the pricing is pretty good for big groups. We had 7 of us, and we ordered 4 main dishes with rice, the total bill worked out to be 1111 baht. All of us were all quite full with the portions. Not much people on a weekday lunch, seems like more Thais visit this place than overseas tourists. Indeed a good place for lunch after visiting PB Valley. PS: The service was really a little slow. We felt that the staff wasn’t that proactive.

Fantastic food! Ordered 5 different dishes and all of them were absolutely fabulous! On top of this, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful! So, why only 4 and not 5 stars would you ask? Well, there’s a TV set within the main restaurant room that really doesn’t help the experience. Quite on the contrary, it is disturbing and annoying... especially to young children. Would be helpful taking it down!

We always stop at Big Mount when I Khao Yai. When I opened to now with their new face-lift of the restaurant & cafe. Also adding a parking lot. Much has improved however their food still tastes the same, home cooked and yummy Thai food. The prices may be on the high side however it is offset by cleanliness and peace of mind. Fresh vegetables and deli items are on sale as before. Good place to drop in for a meal. The owner personally supervises the operation which is another plus. Back again. Very busy compared to 2 years ago. Tour groups now frequent the restaurant. Happy to see them Doing well.

Authentic Thai food, very tasty, and comes at a reasonable pricing. Everything we ordered tasted good. Although might have to be careful if you don't eat spicy, as dishes could get spicy.

Food is delicious, service is prompt and timely, atmosphere is clean, quiet and cool. Seriously, what more can you ask from a restaurant in an area like this? As a foreigner, and for fellow foreigners to come, this has got to be in one of your stops!
